Politicians all over the world seem to have forsaken decency and decorum for the sake of power. It is understandable of indecent public posture in a dictatorship or authoritarian regime, but such deviant talks in democracy in the name of democratic rights has reduced public platform to rottenness.
In Karnataka politics, all most every political party is guilty of crassness in use of words and thus taking public debate to the gutters of dirty depths.
Whether Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigns or not, the Congress party has erred in the usage of intemperate words against the Constitutional entity as the Governor. There was no need to involve the Cabinet of the state in the episode. Approaching the judiciary was the next dignified measure.
An endorsement by the Congress Legislature Party was sufficient in the matter of the chief minister as he happens to be their leader. But, to drag the Cabinet in to the process has set a bad precedent in the governance mechanism. A Cabinet, which takes decisions affecting Karnataka people of over 6 crores, should not be passing resolution in support of an individual.
We are not here to judge Siddaramaiah in Mysuru land allotment issue but concerned about the consequences of dirty politics, deteriorating public debate and lack of restraint before targetting Constitutional institutions.
