As with the ease of booking tickets and improvements in the speed of the train and passenger amenities, the response level of the railway staff has become better.
On Wednesday night, Vande Karnataka magazine sent a message on its ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) social media account about liquor consumption by a few passengers in the Solapur-Hassan Express train (train number 11311). Despite objections by co-passengers and warnings by the train ticket examiner (TTE), 3 passengers in the A1 coach continued drinking.
Some passengers informed Vande Karnataka, and the magazine put out a message on social media, tagging Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the railway ministry, and the divisional railway manager, Bengaluru.
The magazine’s message triggered a series of forwards to various authorities even as the public engagement with the magazine’s message increased on social media.
Meanwhile, on the train, the TTE showed some courage and authority to make the drinking passengers stop liquor consumption and slapped on a fine of Rs 2,000. Along with the action of the TTE, a constable of the railway protection force came to the coach and assured other agitated passengers to sleep well, as he will guard their safety.
Vande Karnataka appreciates the quick response by the railway ministry staff and thanks them on behalf of the passengers. Taking a step forward, the magazine suggests the creation of a No Train Travel list of misbehaving passengers on the lines of the aviation sector’s No Fly List.
